Whittier Community Market_2016

Minneapolis, Minnesota. University of Minnesota MArch.

This proposal is for a community market in the Whittier neighborhood of Minneapolis. The project is an exploration in themes of urban design that facilitates urban armatures and public space that is specifically generic to establish community authorship and social resiliency. The project site is at the intersection of a lower level bike "greenway" and upper-level of a dense pedestrian-scaled community of popular local restaurants dubbed "eat street". The project seeks to branch these levels and provide a community space to congregate, celebrate, and share in local food culture. This work was produced as a part of a graduate design studio at the University of Minnesota.
