This Credenza was created as a phased process over a couple of years. The first phase included building a simple cabinet box build sized around my collected pieces of home theater equipment, and a leg structure of laminated skids and tapered legs. The credenza stayed in this form for about a year while I deliberated on the final aesthetic for this piece. In the second phase, I wanted to change this into a piece that was simple, but nuanced in a way that hopefully elicits a double-take. I took a departure from the bare-bones cabinet box to an undulating form that changes depending on where you view it. I achieved this through an ethos of creating three-dimensional forms from planar compositions, using the plywood in unexpected ways. The result is a credenza that successfully houses my home theater system, and also hopefully a piece that gets that double-take that I was looking for.
