This proposal is for a recreation center located in San Cugat, Spain, a suburb of Barcelona. The design is based on a strategy for creative skylighting and a structure that emphasizes the dynamic nature of the program. The strategy progressed through a system of landscape manipulation, made with 'strips' that undulate and form different spaces of program and aperture by shear joints and gaps. The proposal deals with strategies for exploring structural detail and form creation through landscape manipulation with respect to immediate context. The project was completed with a partner, Krisjan Callahan, as a part of the University of Illinois study abroad program hosted at ETSAV in San Cugat, Spain.
